Burley GreenBurley Green is a fledgling community group of Burley residents who enjoy living here but are saddened by some of the things we see: litter, crime, graffiti, burnt-out cars. We want to put our heads together to see what we can do about it. Our first aim is to start tidying the place and cleaning off the graffiti around Burley - you can see examples of it on some of the pages of this site. We've been in touch with the Council and have been awarded a Millenium Commission grant to purchase cleaning equipment. Maybe then we can put up more photos of some of the better aspects of Burley - the daffodils on Burley Green, roses in Burley Park, folk hard at work in Burley Allotments. Burley's a nice place - let's keep it that way. Burley Green is the area of grass bounded by Burley Road, Village Street, Cardigan Lane and Stanmore Hill.
It used to be the village of Burley - the rest of what we now call Burley was just fields and woods. All the old houses were pulled down in the Sixties. Did you live there? Do you know anyone who did? Share your memories in the Burley History section.
